Each of us is writing a story with our lives, and like any story we are incomplete without knowing our past and having an idea for our future. I believe counseling is a powerful support that can allows us to overcome hurdles, meet new goals, and live the life we want to live. I enjoy working with people who extend compassionate curiosity to themselves to better understand their life in every aspect. Hello! My name is Mary, and I am a resident in counseling here at Rocktown Counseling. While I am open to consulting with anyone who's looking for a therapist, I especially love working with children, teens, and young adults. I have a special place in my heart for those who struggle with depression and anxiety, and also like to work with those having difficulty with new changes in their lives. I offer a range of options for therapy, as I like to pull techniques from multiple therapeutic approaches and tailor them to the client's needs.
Some of my most widely-used techniques are incorporating play, art, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and person-centered therapy into my sessions. I am a big proponent of making counseling as comfortable a process as possible for the client.
Having gone to therapy myself, I know it can be difficult to put yourself out there and express hardships and emotions that maybe otherwise would have been bottled up. If you or your child are in need of an outlet for any of the difficulties in life, I am here to help build trust, skills, and healthy coping strategies. Please don't hesitate to reach out!

I integrate various modalities to meet my clients' needs best. Some techniques I use include play, expressive arts, parts work, emotion-focused therapy, and many more. No matter the modality I use, my goal is to meet my clients where they are, sit with them, and honor their unique stories.

I understand that it takes considerable courage to ask for help, particularly when it comes to mental health and the stigma surrounding therapy. This means I am deeply committed to making the counseling experience as gentle and meaningful as possible for all my clients. I believe in the power of community and that the relationship between the client and counselor is an extremely important part of the healing process. It’s a privilege and a priority for me to be worthy of the trust of my clients; my goal is to offer people a judgment-free space that feels safe and genuine. I provide counseling in Spanish and English and work primarily from a person-centered approach. I have a particular interest in providing multiculturally competent and trauma-informed care that considers the needs of a person as a whole.

I am a practicum student counselor, in my final year of my graduate program for mental health counseling at Antioch University. My desire is to help my clients feel safe, welcome, and supported as they experience life’s challenges.
I am excited to work with clients of any age, and hope to provide a gentle space for any client in need of some extra support. I’m open to working with clients through a variety of difficulties, but I have a special interest in grief counseling and mindfulness-based acceptance and commitment therapy. Life can be exceptionally difficult, and rather than try and fight against those difficulties, I believe in strengthening our connection to ourselves and our values, building strong roots and support systems, and learning ways of flowing with the current without being swept away.
